Say Something (Bonus)

Over the next month I threw myself into work. I went in early and stayed late. It was the therapy I needed and just the distraction my heart craved for. I wanted to heal…I needed to heal but it wasn’t happening fast enough. I still thought about him all the time. And it didn’t help that I had to strategically call him on a regular basis just to keep him happy. Well, what about my happiness? If we didn’t speak often according to his standards, then there was something wrong. I didn’t want to keep hearing that so I made sure I took part in maintaining our relationship.

Once I reached exhaustion, I took a weekend off to rest and see my family and friends. Linda and I decided to have Sunday brunch at Caffé Gelato. When I pulled up I could see her already seated and drinking coffee. She was early.

I walked in and a greeter was ready to seat me. I pointed to my sister who was waving her hand in the air and told her that I already had a table.

“Hey Sissy,” I said, bending over giving her a kiss on the cheek before sitting across from her.

“Hey Reeta Beeta Bo Bita Banana Fana Fo Fita, Fee Fye Fofita Reetaaaa,” she sang with a foot tap and hand clap arrangement.

Laughing, “You are so stupid!”

“I’ve missed you sister!!! I ain’t seen you in like two weeks.”

“I know. I’ve been working these crazy hours.”

“Why are you working this much? Every time we talk you’re telling me how exhausted you are. Is it money?”

“No. I just wanted to stay busy for a bit.”

“Oooo I see,” she gave me a knowing look. “Trey.”

“Hello Ladies,” the waiter greeted. “My name is Zack and I will be your server for today. Can I start you off with something to drink?”

“Can I have a glass of Mimosa?” I requested.

“And I’ll have the same,” Linda added.

“Sure thing. Can I start you off with an appetizer?”

Linda and I looked at each other. She scrunched up her nose and shook her head no.

I looked up at the waiter, “No thank you.”

“Alright…I will put this in and be back shortly for your order.”

“Okay,” smiled Linda. Her smiling eyes went from him to me.

“What?” I said.

“He’s cute!”

“Uhhh I didn’t notice.”

“He looks mixed don’t you think? He got nice curly hair.”

“What? I’m just saying…you should jump on that!”

“Linda he looks like he’s all of 14. What am I going to do with that little boy?”

“Ride him. Or maybe he can take you for a spin.”

I picked up a pack of jelly and threw it at her.

Laughing, “What? I’m tryna hook you up!”

“I don’t need to be hooked up.”

“You need to stop pining over Trey.”
“I’m not. I don’t even think about him anymore.”

“Uh! Did you just lie to me??? Seriously Syreeta?”

I laughed. “Well if you stop mentioning him then maybe I can stop thinking about him. Geeze!”

“Fine! If you say so. What you gone do though?”

“Do about what?”

“What are you talkin’ about? Nothing.”

“So y’all just gone pretend like nothing ever happened between y’all? I just don’t see that working. You gone get tired of not being number one.”

“And this is why I can’t move on Linda.”

“Okay fine, I’ll drop it, but you know the best way to get over one lover is to get a new one.”

Zack came back with our Mimosas. “Are you ready to order yet?”

Linda started, “Yes, can I get the Lejon Omelette with roasted potatoes?”

“Sure,” Zack responded. “And you Ms?” looking at me.

“Can I have the Pan Seared Scallops with a Belgium Waffle?”

“Certainly. I will put this in,” Zack said and then walked away.

I began sipping on my Mimosa while looking straight at Linda.

“I bet you HIS dick is pretty too!”

I laughed so loud, “You are so stupid!”

“Trey ain’t the only nigga with a pretty dick.”

“HUSH GIRL! You gone get us kicked out. Them white people over there looking at us!”

Linda laughed.

“Anyway, how are my beautiful nieces and my handsome nephew?”

“Getting on my last nerve, but they’re doing great. Britt’nee scared to put together another family outing after the bowling thing. You know she was listening to our conversation so she know you freaked Trey.”

I shook my head in disbelief, “Oh my God. What she say?”

Laughing, “She said, ‘Un-un, that ugly girl? If Trey want her over Auntie then he got low standards and Auntie avoided a disaster’.”

I laughed. “See, that’s why she’s my favorite oldest niece.”

Laughing, “She’s your only oldest niece.”

“And she’s my favorite!”

“I told her you were in-love with him and refused to say something.”

“What you tell her that for?”

“Because it’s true. And she’s not a lil kid.”

“So…okay, well what she say?”

Linda laughed at me. “She said, ‘Awww that’s cute.’ And then she snapped her fingers and said, ‘Auntie better go get her man!’ You know how she talk.”

“Yeah, I can imagine her rolling her neck and snapping her fingers,” I giggled. “I don’t think it’s meant to be Linda. If it was, I think he would’ve said something by now. He obviously is not thinking about me the way I’m thinking about him.”

“I knew you still were…talkin bout you ain’t thinking about him anymore. So what’s up with his shop?”

“The inspector came out and there were a bunch of issues with the building. The roof needed to be replaced, there’s structural damage, and they uncovered some mold which came from some water damage. The owner is currently fixing everything but it’s just taking a while.”

“Oh wow. So what’s he doing in the meantime?”

“He’s still at Darnell’s shop.”

“Mmm, and do y’all still discuss his personal life along with his work life? Who he seeing now…the drunk, skinny broad from the club or the stank hoe from the bowling alley?”

“I just wanna know. Seem like y’all discuss everything else. How weird is that? So who he with or is it a new girl now?”

“We don’t talk about our love lives anymore.”

“So y’all both realize that the dynamics of y’all relationship have changed but no one is going to address it. So instead of stitching up the wound y’all just gone slap a Band-Aid on it? You do realize that this cut is so deep and wide that a damn Band-Aid is not gone work don’t you?”

“We did stitch it. It just needs time to close and heal. That’s what we’re doing.”

“You are even more delusional than he is Syreeta. Y’all need to air everything out.”

Zack approached our table from the side, placing our plates down in front of us. He grabbed our glasses and took them for refills.

Looking at Linda, “We’re fine. We’ll be fine. It just takes time. We’re getting there.”

“If you say so.”

“I say so. Let’s drop it,” I said lowering my head to bless my food.

At the Barbershop

Trey walked in a little after 11 AM. Rodney was the only one with a client while Aaron and Darnell sat in their chairs conversating.
“Good Morn’g Ever’body!” Trey greeted.

“Sup,” Rodney responded.

“Morning” Aaron and Darnell said simultaneously.

“Chu good man?” Aaron asked.

“Yeah. I’m straight. Why?”

“You look tired. She must’ve worn you out.”

“I’on know. Your latest chick. It’s hard to keep up wit’ em.”

“I ain’t seeing nobody right now.”

Rodney chimed in. “Woah, what happen with that fat booty girl that came in here?”

“Kandice? Nothing. Just didn’t work out.”

“Wasn’t you seeing somebody else?” Darnell asked.

“Nadia,” Aaron answered.

“Yeah Nadia,” Darnell said with serious eyes.

“Damn, y’all all up in a nigga’s shit! Can a nigga walk in and get set up befoe y’all nosey niggas get all up in my shit? DAYUM!”

“Well shit nigga, I’ve had the same pussy for 18 years so the only variety I get is listening to yo’ damn stories,” Darnell laughed. “And you know Rodney married and Aaron might as well be married.”

Trey laughed, “Don’t be living vicariously through me. And Rodney is only married on paper. That shit don’t mean nothing!”

“Aye, I take my vows seriously. I promised to love, provide, and protect through rich or poor. I love her, I pay the bills, and if someone tried to fuck wit her I wouldn’t allow them to get no more than 2 or 3 licks in.”

They all laughed.

“Plus,” Rodney continued. “She ain’t kept her vows. I didn’t sign up for her to gain 50 mu’fuckin pounds. She lucky I’m still sticking her and only her for the last year or so.”

“Nigga you ignant! Yo ass should’ve stayed single,” Aaron laughed.

“Oh like yo ass. How long you and Teresa been together…8 years? Got three kids n’ shit.”

“It’s been 6 and a half nigga and we only got two kids. Shut the fuck up! I’m faithful and I love her so that’s all that matters.”

“Naw, that ain’t enough. She’s secretly waiting for you to put a ring on it, “Darnell said. “What you waiting for?”

“Da fuck? How we get on me? Focus! We on Trey. What happen to them two chicks?”

Trey laughed, “Nothing. I told you…I’m done wit em.”

“What happened?” Darnell asked.

“Shiddd. Well Nadia was just a play thang to begin wit. And Kandice…I’on know…we just wasn’t meshing.”

“Naw, the problem is that Syreeta caught yo’ ass with Kandice and now you feeling some type away about that,” Aaron said.

Trey gave Aaron a side eye. “Naw, I can’t explain it. We just wasn’t clicking is all.”

“Mmhmm, so what is up with Syreeta?” Darnell questioned.

“Nothing. We good. Just friends.”

“And that’s working?”

“Yeah. I mean things ain’t the same. I ain’t seen her in a month. She working goofy hours but it is what it is. She at least talkin’ to me.”

“Do she ask about your girlfriends?”

“Naw and I wouldn’t discuss that with her anyway.”

“Why not? Y’all used to discuss it.”

“You know why.”

“So basically y’all ain’t really friends no more. Friends can talk about any and everything. If you got restrictions, y’all ain’t friends no more. Time to wake up and see that.”

“Time for you to stop tryna tell me how to handle my shit. We good!”

“Well, let me ask you something,” Aaron said. “How you gone feel when she got another nigga on her arm?”

“I’ll wish her the best,” Trey shrugged. “Aight…enuff about me!”

“Okay so what’s going on wit da shop?” Darnell asked.

“Just waiting for the current owners to finish all the work. They said they should be done in about two weeks.”

“That’s cool. So we ain’t discussed you taking some of my business witchu.”

“I told you I’m only taking the customers I brought wit me. I ain’t tryna fuck up yo business. You know that ain’t like me. I wouldn’t do that.”

“So what’s witchu taking Rodney witchu?”

“Look…he asked me and I said I’m not tryna have no friction witchu. I told him to talk to you and that I wouldn’t hire him without yo blessing.” Trey looked at Rodney, “Nigga you didn’t tell him I said that?”

“Naw, I ain’t think ‘bout all that. I just asked him would it be aight.”

“I don’t know about that. That means I’d have two empty booths. That would burry us.”

“What if y’all split me…like I work three days here and three days with Trey…at least until you find somebody permanently for ya shop?” Rodney offered.

Darnell let out a heavy sigh, “Look I can’t make you stay.”

“Yeah but I’on won’t no beef.”

“And I don’t want no issues either,” Trey interrupted. “I want this to be a smooth transition for all of us. And shit, if my shop close down I may need my job back,” Trey laughed.

“You’ll be aight man. You talented and you got a good heart. I know you wouldn’t try to sabotage my shit. You got my blessing but Rod, I’m taking you up on yo’ offer. Three days here till I find somebody permanent and since you ain’t have NO customers before you got here…all yo’ customers stay.”

“That’s cool. Thanks man,” he said sliding hands with Darnell.

“And don’t you even think about it Aaron,” Darnell scolded.

Aaron laughed, “I can walk to work. Shiddd I ain’t going nowhere.”

I had finished eating and was waiting for Linda to finish. I swirled my mimosa around in the glass and took another sip.

Linda looked up from her plate to me.

“Syreeta I want you to be happy.”

“I know you do but I don’t want you to think I need Trey to be happy.”

“I know you don’t but he’ll make you glow. You’re different without him being fully in your life. You don’t smile or laugh as much as you used to and you don’t want to do anything but work all day and night. That’s not a healthy balance.”

“Who invited who to brunch?” I asked.

“Yeah, you invited me to brunch but answer me honestly…when was the last you went out and had fun? Real fun! And I know you didn’t have fun when we went bowling,” Linda smirked.

I looked up with my eyes as though I was trying to recall the last time but I already knew when that was. I looked at Linda and she had an “I’m waiting” facial expression.

“When I went out with Trey,” I hesitantly answered.

“I already knew that. With him you have fun and you laugh a lot. You are happier with him. It’s time for you to stop being so damn stubborn and talk to him.”

“I don’t know why we gotta keep discussing this. I’m not going to talk to him about that anymore. It’s in the past and we’re going to move on.”

Linda picked up her napkin from her lap and threw it on top of her plate. “Fine then!” she said crossing her arms across her chest.

“You act like me not saying something to him affects you. I’m the only one losing out here…not you!”

A slow smiled appeared across Linda’s face. I looked at her with squinted eyes trying to figure out the purpose behind that unexpected grin.

“Glad you realize you’re losing,” Linda finally said.

I smacked my lips, “Whatever Linda!”

Linda laughed.

“Can I get you ladies anything else?” Zack asked.

Linda batted her eyes, “Maybe your phone number for my sister here. Are you single?”

“Linda!” I gasped.

“Shhhh,” she said. “Are you?” she asked again turning her attention back to Zack.

“I’m single,” he replied.

“Do you think my sister is cute?”

I put my hand over my eyes and lowered my head.

“Yes, she’s very cute,” he answered.

“Well maybe you can take her out to dinner. She just ended a relationship a month ago and is in need of a good time. You look like you can show her a good time.”

“Oh my God Linda!” I said appalled.

“I would love to!” Zack said.

“Excuse me but how old are you,” I asked Zack.

“Oh Lawd, you’re a baby!”

“That’s not that much younger than you. What are you? 25, 26?” he smiled.

I looked at him, rolled my eyes, and laughed.

“You are right,” Linda continued. “She’s only a few years older than you. Let me give you her phone number.”

“She’s free tonight if you wanna call her when you get off.”

Zack took my number that Linda had written down for him. “Okay, I will call you tonight Sy…Si – reeta,” he tried pronouncing.

“Syreeta,” Linda helped out.

“Syreeta,” he said as though he achieved the impossible. “I will call you tonight,” he said looking into my eyes.

I smiled but I was gone kick my sister’s ass when he walked away.

“Can I get you ladies anything else to eat or drink?”

“No, just the check please,” I responded. “Thank you.”

Zack pulled the check from his apron and laid it on the table.

“I got it,” I said to Linda. When Zack walked away Linda started giggling. “Oh my God I’m gonna kill you for that!”

“Awe sis it ain’t gotta be nothing serious. Just let him pull your hair and spank you a little bit.”

I shook my head while smiling. I figured I’d at least consider it.

When I got back home the itis had kicked in but I refused to give in. I began sorting my dirty clothes. I got the first load in and started cleaning my bathroom. My phone rang and it was the ringtone I had set for Trey. I pulled off my rubber gloves and ran to my phone.

“Hello,” I said out of breath.

Trey laughed, “What you ran?”

Laughing, “Yeah, I was in the bathroom.”

“Eww…did you wash your hands? Hell did you flush?”

I laughed. “Boi I was cleaning the bathroom.”

“Mmhmm tell the truth shame the devil.”

I giggled, “That is the truth. I was cleaning. What you doing?”

“On my lunch break. ‘Bout to max this burger. Why you didn’t go to work today? I called to the job to see if you wanted to grab dinner when you got off. They said you was off. I was thinking you was sick.”

“No, I’m fine. I just needed some time off. I was burnt out.”

“Tryna kill yo’self.”

“I’m not.”

“Then why you working so much? What you need some money or something?”

“No…I’m okay.”

“If you do, I gotcha.”

Laughing, “Trey I don’t need any money. I’m fine.”

“Okay, but then Imma need you to get yo’self a hobby and stop workin’ so damn much.”

“I got a hobby!”

“Well get another one. But anyway, I’m gonna eat real quick cause I got a client coming in in 20 minutes.  You wanna do dinner tonight?”

“Not to late Trey because I gotta be up in the morning.”

“Naw it ain’t gone be late. We don’t stay open too late on Sundays. 7 good for you?”

“Yep…works for me!”

“Aight. I’ll be there when I get off.”

After I finished all my chores I made myself a warm bubble bath. I hooked up my iPod dock and scrolled through until I found “Joe.” I pressed play and stripped down. I climbed into the tub, closed my eyes, and relaxed my head back. I was in the mood for something mellow and relaxing but Joe usually put me in the mood more than relaxed me. I lay listening to “The Love Scene” and “Lose Control.” When “Drink Up” came on my mind shifted to how well Trey drank up. I heard myself moan with the thought. I opened my eyes and stared out into the blank space. Trey raped my thoughts at every turn. I couldn’t even take a bath and not think about him. The thought of seeing him that night both excited and unnerved me. I loved being around him. He was quite possibly my favorite person to see, and that’s saying a lot since I truly and deeply love my family. I sunk lower to warm my breast and I wished how he was there to do that for me. I blew out air from my mouth and laid back and closed my eyes again. Another sensual song came on and I began to get hot. I detached the shower head from the holder and turned on the water. The water shot out as a full body spray and I moved the lever to switch it to a full force center concentrated spray. I put it in between my legs and directed it at my clit. My head fell back and my eyes began to roll to the back of my head. I moaned as the sensation continued to raise my temperature. My legs began to shake and I jerked as my body exploded.

“Mmmm,” I groaned biting my lip. I huffed and puffed while the stir subsided.  Once I had caught my breath, I turned off the water and place the shower head back in place. I laid back and closed my eyes.

My eyes snapped open, “SHIT!” Instantly I felt how cold the water was. I looked down and my toes and fingers were shriveled up. I stood up and grabbed my towel.

“Oh shit! That must be Trey,” I said a loud.

I wrapped the towel around me and ran to the door. I peeked out and could see Trey standing there with his cell phone to his ear. His ringtone echoed from the living room. I peered over at the coffee table and I could see his face lighting up my screen. He was calling me.

I unlocked the door and opened it.

“I’m sorry. I’m sorry! I fell asleep.”

I saw Trey’s eyes look at me from head to toe and I saw him swallow deeply. I bit my bottom lip to keep from smiling. Yeah…I know I look good dripping wet.

“You fell asleep in the tub? Yo eyes a lil red.”

“Yeah. I didn’t realize I was that tired. Let me throw some clothes on real quick.”

I began scurrying across the room since I should’ve been ready and my ass slid in a patch of water and went tumbling down.

“Owww!” I screamed as I hit my knee against the hardwood floor. I grabbed my knee and held it.

“You aight?” Trey asked, looking down at my hand holding my knee.

I looked up at him and I saw his eyes come from my titties to my eyes. I covered my chest with my left arm.

Trey giggled and then came behind me and lifted me up. My entire towel fell to the floor. We bent down at the same time to get it but he got it first and wrapped it around me.

“Thank you,” I said.

“My pleasure. No really, my pleasure.”

I looked at him and smirked and then hit his chest. Trey laughed.

“Naw but for real, you aight?”

“Yeah, I just banged up my knee.” I stuck my leg out and noticed a dark bruise appearing. Trey grabbed my leg to rub it and I almost fell again had his hand not grabbed me.

“You’re such a klutz today,” he laughed.

“No you threw me off balance. I didn’t know you were gone grab my leg.”

“I was tryna see.”

“See witcha eyes not witcha hands!”

This time I walked to my bedroom and began getting dressed. When I came out, Trey was stretched out with his feet up on my coffee table watching ESPN. When he heard my heels getting closer he looked back at me.

“Chu look nice.”

“Thank you,” I said, sitting down beside him. “Can you fasten my strap?” I said, putting my foot in his lap.

Trey was fastening it when I saw my phone flash. I grabbed it.

“You just had a missed call,” Trey said.

“Thanks.” I scrolled through and didn’t recognize the number. Then the number called again.

“Hello,” I greeted.

“Hi. Can I please speak to Syreeta?”

“Speaking,” at that moment I realized it was Zack.

“Hi it’s Zack.”

“Hi,” I said, moving my right foot from Trey’s lap and putting up the left one.

“How are you doing?

“Great. What about you?”

“I’m doing great. You have such a nice voice.”

“So do you. You’re off from work now?”

“Yes. I just got in. I’m going to take a shower and then I was wondering if you would like to have drinks tonight?”

“That sounds nice but I’m actually headed out now, but I would love a rain check?”

“Of course. I’m off tomorrow if you’re available.”

I paused for a moment to think it over. “Tomorrow would work but I don’t get off till 7 PM.”

“How about 9? That’ll give you time to rest.”

“Ok good. So this is my number. You can put it in your phone. Now do you wanna meet me tomorrow night or should I pick you up?”

“I’ll call you tomorrow when I get off and we can discuss that.”

“Ok. Right…I know you’re headed out. Be safe and I can’t wait to see you tomorrow.”

“You too. Bye.”

Trey was staring at the TV motionless.
“You ready,” I asked.

He livened up, standing up knocking my foot off his lap. “Yeah.”

He drove us to The Cheesecake Factory where the line was out the door. We stood outside waiting for our buzzer to vibrate to signal our table was ready. Trey was quiet and it seemed like something was bothering him. I was pulling conversations from my ass and all he’d do is respond with one or two word answers.

“What’s wrong?” I finally asked.

“Yes it is. You were fine until I took that phone call.”

“You heard me.”

“I wasn’t studin’ yo phone call. Just thinkin’ bout the shop.”

“Oh. Well what’s happening with that.”

“The same…just waiting on the owner to finish up the work. Sposed to be ready in two weeks.”

“Okay. You excited?”

After that we were quiet for a while. We never had awkward silences between us but now it was strange. I stood against the fence and pulled out my cell phone. Since we obviously had nothing to talk about I figured I’d look at my Facebook and Twitter.

“Trey! Heyyyyy,” she said.

Trey looked up from his phone and his face lit up. “Ayeee girl!” he said wrapping his arms around her. He held her a little longer than necessary.

“Syreeta, this is Monique Becknell. Nique this my best friend Syreeta.”

“Oh heyyy bestie,” she greeted with a handshake.

I gave her a polite smile and shook her hand.

She stood in front of Trey looking him up slowly and then licking her lips. “You lookin’ good…almost good enough to eat.”

“Shiddd…I am good enough to eat. One bite and you can never get enough.”

“Oh I remember very well! What you doing after dinner tonight?”

Trey shook his head from one side to the next while maintaining a silly grin on his face. I rolled my eyes at the bullshit. My blood was boiling. I don’t know why I agreed to go anywhere with him. We can’t ever go someplace and he not know half the bitches there.

“I lost my phone a while back ago and was so mad when I lost yo number. Put yo number in here?” Monique said, handing Trey her cell.

Trey took her phone and entered his digits into it. While he was entering his number our buzzer vibrated.
“That’s us,” I said.

“Aight,” Trey replied.

“Imma call you tonight and see if you wanna get up,” Monique said as she grazed Trey’s arm up and down.

“Aight. I’ll be lookin’ out.”

I handed the hostess our buzzer and she escorted us to our booth. Trey picked up the menu and put it up to his face. I was so mad I felt my eyes watering so I put the menu to my face too. This man had turned me into a cry baby. I was so sick of him! The water in my eyes went away as I observed the menu. Finally I began to focus on it and really decide what I wanted to eat. We ordered our food and continued not speaking. Finally he broke the silence.

“How yo’ mama doing?”

“She’s fine,” I replied. “How is your mama?”

“Same…doing good.”

“Tell her I said hello the next time you talk to her.”

“I will.”

I sat through a very uncomfortable dinner with him. After we ate our dinner, neither one of us opted for dessert and that was not like us. We always wanted dessert. When he drove me back up to my house I just got out the car without a word, slamming his door behind me. I walked up my porch and opened the screen door. Trey scared me when he grabbed my arm from behind, turned me around, and pushed me up against the door.

“What the fuck is wrong witchu?” he fussed.

“You have had an attitude all fuckin’ night! Why cause of dat bitch?”

I pushed him from in front of me. “Leave me alone Trey!” I turned around and began fumbling with my keys.

I felt my face heating up. I was red and tears were on the brink. “I’m going to bed.”

Trey snatched the keys out my hand and pushed me up against the door. “Talk to me Syreeta. TALK TO ME!”

“NO! NO! NOOO!!!” I slapped him. “JUST LEAVE ME ALONE! Gimme my keys. Give em here,” I cried.

I held my hand out waiting for him to put them back in my hand. When I looked up into his eyes a tear rolled down his face.

I slid to the ground and buried my head into my arms and sobbed.  I heard the keys as he laid them down against the concrete porch. When I looked up he was walking away.

“Trey! TREY!” He kept going, climbing into his car. I ran down the stairs and stood in front of his car as he started it up. I lowered my head as tears began to run down my face and hit the hood of his car. Finally I looked up at him. Tears were running down his face.

I was breathing heavy, trying to get a hold of myself. “I’m sorry,” I finally said.

Trey looked out the driver side window.

I went over to the window and squatted down. “I’m sorry,” I repeated. “Can we go inside and talk?”

Trey turned his head towards the front and looked down at the steering wheel. Finally he turned his car off and climbed out.

We sat on the couch silent for a while until he once again broke the silence.

“Talk,” he said.

I swallowed and tried to get my emotions under check, and then finally I began. “I’m sorry I hit you. I have no acceptable reason for that. That’s not like me at all. Hit me back Trey.”

Trey looked at me with a smirk. He didn’t find it funny.

“I…I don’t know what’s going on with me,” I continued.

“Syreeta, in all these years I’ve known you, you’ve always known exactly how you were feeling. Expressing yourself has never been an issue, but since we fucked, you have been different. You know I realized that us smashing changed some stuff but I never knew how much till now. It’s like we can’t even be in the same room together anymore. You feelin’ some kinda way and I’m feelin’ another. We shoulda never did it!”

“And that’s what hurts so much. You regret sleeping with me,” I sobbed.

“I did not regret it.”

“You said you did right afterwards and then again now! That shit hurts, especially because you know I haven’t been with anybody in a long time and then when I am you tell me you regret my shit??? That fuckin hurt!”

Trey came closer and wrapped his arm around me. “That’s not what I meant.”

“Was it that bad?” I asked, wiping my nose.

Trey laid his head on top of my head. “It wasn’t bad at all Syreeta. Shit it was great! You should bottle up yo shit and sell it.”

I laughed and hit his chest.

“So then what was it?”

“I don’t know. Fear. Wondering if you were gonna regret it. I think I was just tryna decrease the blow if you told me you regretted it.”

“So you say it first?” I said, twisting my body to look him in the eye.

“I don’t know what I was trying to do but I’m sorry that I said that. I promise I did not regret it in that moment.”

“And now?”

“We’re different now. I want my best friend back. I miss you and I know the sex did that. Do I wanna take it back? No because I loved it, but would I if I could? Maybe, if it means I get you back. I ain’t gone lie. I didn’t like sitting next to you listening to some dude come at chu.”

“How you think I feel when you got all these bitches coming at chu, caressing your body, putting their pussy all up in yo face…tryna get the D? And then listening to you flirt back when I’m so in-love with you. That shit hurts!”

Trey lowered his head and grinned. I looked him in the face trying to decode his smile.

“You’re in-love with me? He asked.

I poked out my lips, folded my arms over my chest, and looked away.

“You’re in-love with me! YOU ARE IN LOVE WITH ME!!!” he said louder.

He stood up, grasped my hands together and pulled me up. He went in for a hug, holding me tightly. I apprehensively hugged him back. I had no clue of what was going on in his head.

“Trey,” I muffled under his tight hold.

“YOU LOVE ME!” he shouted again.

Suddenly he picked me up and twirled me around. I laughed.

“Trey-ey,” I sang.

He placed my feet back on the ground and held my cheeks by the palms of his hands. He looked at me intensely. “It all makes a whole lot more sense now. You love me!”

I looked him intently in the eyes trying to read them.

“I am so fuckin’ in-love witchu too,” he finally said.

My heart literally leapt out my chest. I smiled and then my smile turned into happy tears.

He kissed down my wet cheeks over and over again until our lips finally collided.

Trey kissed me deeply as he held me snugly. He nibbled on my neck. “God” *kiss* I *kiss* love *kiss* you *kiss*,” he said, spreading kisses up my neck and across my cheek.

I squeezed him closely as he continued to plant soft, slow kisses all over.

He suddenly stopped and looked at me with sensual eyes, “All I can see right now is us making love till the sun comes up. We should be making love. Will you let me?”

I bit my lip while smiling. I shook my head yes.

He picked me up and I wrapped my legs around his waist. I could feel his dick poking me. He carried me into the room and laid me on the bed. He stood up and began undressing himself. I did the same…kicking off my heels, pulling down my jeans, and pulling my off-the-shoulder shirt over my head. He was completely naked by the time I got my shirt off and he jumped on me.

I laughed and he had laughter in his eyes too.

His eyes softened as he went in for a kiss.

He lifted my thigh and nibbled on the inside of my thigh. I giggled and rubbed his head.

He looked at me with smiling eyes and gripped the sides of my panties. “I’ve been wanting to see this again. Dayum!” he laughed.

I shook my head, “You so silly. You almost did earlier.”

“You shoulda fell wit yo legs wide open. Mighta fell in and we could’ve avoided all this other shit tonight.”

“You gone talk or you gone put in work.”

“Imma do both.” He pulled me slightly over to my side and spanked my ass. “Scream my name when I do something you like.”

I giggled.

He pulled my panties off and sucked his index and middle finger. He slid them both in.

I squeezed my pelvis and closed my eyes. His lips began bathing my lips and I was in heaven again.

“Mmmm,” I moaned.

Trey flicked my clit with precision, while pressing his fingers in and out. I rocked my pelvis to the rhythm of his hand.

Trey stopped.

“TREY!” I groaned.

“Oh so you like me doing nothing.”

“What?” I asked aspirated.

“That’s when I heard my name…when I stopped.”

“Boy if you don’t put yo lips back down there I’m gonna choke you!”

“Then you better motivate me. Say my name!”

Trey went back down and began lapping me up again. His fingers started moving inside me and it didn’t take long before I got back to the edge.

His rhythm slowed.

He sped back up.

“Oo, oo, oo, OO, OOOO, OOOOOO TREYYYYYY YESSSSSSSS!!!!!” I screamed.

Trey looked up at me and wiped his lips. He took off my bra and grabbed a handful while never taking his eyes off mine. “See that wasn’t so hard was it?”

I laughed.

“Where you want me,” he asked. “I’m here to please you.”

“Just for tonight?” I asked.

“Is that how long you want me for?” he asked.

He pressed his body against mine. “I’m not going anywhere. I’ll be here until you make me go away. All of this showed me that I don’t even want anybody else.”

“Mmhmm,” I said with a side eye.

“I’m for real. I ain’t even got laid since you.”

“For real?”

“For real. But it ain’t like I ain’t tried. Shit I thought something was wrong wit me. I was wit Kandice and my shit wouldn’t get hard.”

I laughed.

“That shit scared me at first, but then I’d think about you and get hard. I realized it wasn’t me but her…she wasn’t you.”

“That’s some real shit. You stole my heart like a fuckin’ thief in the night. Don’t even know where you came from!”

“So Kandice and Nadia?”

“They out the picture. We over. I want us…if you’ll have me.”

I smiled a big ass smile, “I’ll have you.”

He kissed me and pushed himself deep inside me. He groaned.

“I better hear my name if you like it,” I whispered.

I laughed so hard!

We made love all night long until the morning. I ended up calling off from work the next three days and so did he. His shop is now open and is extremely successful. We moved in together and are happily in-love. He treats me with the upmost respect and when we’re out and a bitch he used to fuck approaches, he says, “This is my wife Syreeta.” I smile each time. I can’t wait for that to really be so. Shit…I’m glad I finally got the courage to SAY SOMETHING!
